Thousands Of Football Lovers, Dignitaries Throng Makarfi Stadium For Kaduna Director Of Sports Cup Final

*Durum pip Tanki to emerge winners

Thousands of football lovers as well as several dignitaries thronged the venue for the Final of Director of Sports  Kaduna State, Yakubu Ibrahim Soccer Competition to witness   Durum United FC lift the trophy of the maiden edition.

They beat  Ungwan Malam Tanki FC by a lone goal courtesy of Ahmed Mohammed to lift the trophy which was keenly contested for at the Majarfi Township Stadium on Saturday December 4 2019.

At half time both teams despite several attempts at goal, remained unsuccessful, going to the second half level with no goal.

The only goal of the explosive encounter came close to the end of the full regulation time when Durum United  courtesy of Ahmed Mohammed scored to the delight of their fans to win the match and emerge champions of the maiden edition.

Speaking to our correspondent after the game, coach of the first runners-up,  Ungwan Malam Tanko United, Adamu Ibrahim Handicap said it was God’s will for them to lose.

“It is God will that we didn’t win. I gave them good training and it took us to final. We will keep training hard. We are hoping to win the next edition,” he hoped.

Head coach of Durum United FC, Danjumai Lawal (Wakilin Durum) congratulated his charges for winning the maiden edition of the tournament, commended the organizing committee and thanked cup donor for giving back to the society.

Aminu M. Sada of Makarfi Pillars won the Highest Goal Scorer award with five goals, while Mubarak Dalhatu of Makarfi PSG was voted as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

All the sixteen clubs that participated were presented  with certificates of participation. 
The first placed club were presented a trophy, medals and a set of jersey, while the second placed were presented a trophy, medals and quality match balls.

Dignitaries present at the final include: Director Admin and Finance of the ministry stood in for the Commissioner of Sports Kaduna State, Professor Kabir Mato,Silikin Zazzau Hakimin Makarfi, Alh. Adamu Abdullahi, Sarkin Makarfi, Alh. Kabir Abdullahi, Vice Chairman, Makarfi LGA, Hon. Abdullahi Gazara and Kaduna State FA Chairman, Hon. Sherriff Kassim.

Others are, Kaduna State FA Vice Chairman, Hon. Magaji Abdullahi Alhassan (Boss), Usman Abubakar (Shaba), Secretary, Kaduna State FA, Haruna Ibrahim, Chairman, Zaria Super Learners FC, Deputy Director of Sports, Yusuf Yamai and Kaduna SWAN Chairman, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin (JP).
