Makarfi LGA Vice Chair Assures Township Stadium Would Be Given Facelift In 2020

Propelled by the huge turn out of spectators and the tremendous success recorded by the maiden edition of the Kaduna State Director of Sports Yakubu Ibrahim Soccer Competition, the Makarfi Local Government management HSS given assurance that the township stadium would be driven a face lift this year.

Vice Chairman of the Makarfi Local Government Council, Abdullahi Ahmed Gazara gave the assurance while fielding questions from newsmen after the closing ceremony of the Director’s Cup on Sunday January 4, 2020 at the Makarfi Township Stadium.

 “In this year 2020 we will repair the stadium and give sports all the required support,” he said

He explained that in their quest to keeping youth off vices resulting from idleness, they have been using sports.

“We are always buying sports equipment for the LG because we don’t want the youth to be idle,” he said

He praised the Director of Sports for sponsoring the competition, adding that it brought unity to the local government area. 

“For the past 30 years nothing like this has been done here. We will call him and appreciate his efforts,” he assured.

Also speaking to newsmen led to the closing ceremony by Kaduna State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Chairman Kaduna State Chapter, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin, Kaduna State Football Association Chairman, Honourable Shareef Alkassim said the competition was an eye opener.

“It is another plus for football in the state. Our aim is to encourage development of talents and the Director of Sports has done well in that direction.  Here in Makarfi, many talents abound as witnessed from the final match,” he said.
He thanked the Director and others contributing to the development of football in the state.

“We thank everyone that will join us to develop football in Kaduna State”.

On the ongoing rejuvenated Kaduna Governor’s Cup, he said steady progress was being made.

“We will call a meeting of key stakeholders on Friday to give the give breakdown of the successes recorded so far in the Governor’s Cup,” he hinted.
