The maiden edition of the Engineer Musa Nimrod U-20 Inter Ward Football Championship for Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State has kicked off successfully and is gaining momentum.
Organising Secretary of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Malam Abdulrazak Usman disclosed this while speaking on phone with our correspondent on Friday.
According to him, several dignitaries were present at the kick off ceremony on Wednesday at the College of Education Hong.
“The Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Honourable James T. Pakuma, his vice, Honourable Abdulkareem Isa and leader, Honourable Dzari Tachal among several dignitaries graced the colourful opening ceremony, ” he informed.
He explained that the final of the competition will be played on January 14, were trophies and other prizes will be presented to winners.
Malam Usman praised Engineer Nimrod, who is the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) for his philanthropic gestures, aimed at reducing vices and empowering youth, calling on other public spirited individuals and corporate organizations to emulate same.
“Engineer Nimrod is doing so much for sports development all over the country, using personal resources to touch lives. We appreciate his commitment to keeping youth away from crime and other social vices by creating an avenue to engage them positively,” he added.
