The family of kidnapped Broadcaster, Mr. Peter Okon Etim popularly known as “Peter-Tex” who until his disappearance worked with the Cross River State Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) staged a peaceful demonstration along major streets of Calabar to register their grief and pain.
It would be recalled that he was kidnapped one year ago and since then, there has been no news of whether he is alive our dead.
Though the “alleged kidnappers had demanded for a ransom but they refused to release him”,
The family members as well as friends moved from Target Street, White House, Calabar Road and terminated at his work place Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC).
Some of the placards read, “release Peter-Tex to us. We are missing him, Free P-Tex, please help, free Peter Tex, we want him alive”.
Speaking on behalf of the family, his son, Alexander Etim, said “it has been one year of several unanswered questions, pains, truma, high expectations and indeed we still continue to expect the return of our dear father, brother and friend”.
“There is still no word, no details, no breakthrough and no pleasant news about what happened to Peter-Tex”.
According to him, “we have engaged the law enforcement and security agencies in the state in search for what happened to Anti-Kidnapping,. The DSS had all been helpful in trying to resolve this crime and we commend them for their efforts so far”.
Etim, therefore called on the state government, the security agencies and the media to intensify efforts to resolve the case of the disappearance of Peter-Tex”.
In his remarks, the acting general manager of CRBC, Mr. Eniang Ndem, decried the mystery surrounding the kidnapping and disappearance of a veteran broadcaster with solution.
He said “people have been kidnapped and after paying ransom they were released”.
Ndem prayed Almighty God to console the family while they wait patiently for his release soonest”.
He called on the security agencies in the state to put up their best so as to track down those behind his kidnapped,
