Students of the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, in lsoko North Local Government Area of Delta state have blocked a section of the ever busy Ughelli/Asaba expressway.
The thousands of protesting students of the State Polytechnic Ozoro, blocked the school section of the busy Ughelli/Asaba expressway in the early hours on tuesday over alleged new policies introduced by the school management.
The protest, it was learnt, is being led by officials of the Students Union Government (SUG).
It was gathered that the management of the institution had introduced new policies including a ban on students driving their vehicles into the school premises.
AUTHENTIC News Daily learnt that commuters plying the route have been stranded for over three hours as a result of the protest.
Sources said that, ”the students locked the main entrance gate into the institution due to the alleged new policies introduced by the management of the polytechnic.
“The management of the institution introduced new policies including a ban on students driving their vehicles into the school premises”.
The protesters are demanding the school management to urgently rescind the new policies they described as anti-students.
As at the time of filing this report, the students are still rioting and they have taken over the school security house.
