The Kaduna State Secondary Schools Sports 100m, 200m and 4x100m triple gold medalist, Samuel Ogazi has set sight on the 2020 U20 World Junior Championship slated for Nairobi, Kenya in July.
Samuel, an SS3 student of Airforce Comprehensive Schools, Kaduna, ran 10.7 secs to win the 100m, 21.7secs to win the 200m before anchoring Rigachikun Zone to the 4x100m relay gold medal.
The 16-year-old talented sprinter, who draws inspiration from American sprinter, Noah Lyles, said, “I intend to go back and train harder to win the Kaduna State Sports Festival in February, win the National Sports Festival in Edo state and run in the World U20 Junior Championship in Kenya.
“My personal aspiration is to run 9.9secs in 100m and 19secs in 200m before end of the year and be at the Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan (later in the year). I believe with hard work, dedication and faith in God i can achieve these aims,” the lanky athlete said.
Bashir Muhammad from Riigachuku Zone ran 11.09sec to win 100m silver, while Joseph Christopher from Zonkwa zone ran 11.35sec to win bronze medal.
Peace Lekwot of Faith Academy Kaduna ran 12:37secs to win the girls 100m, while Elizabeth Alege of Barnawa Baptist School won the girls 200m with 27:32secs. Both girls are athletes on the stable of Coach Felix Sports and Academic Foundation, Kaduna.
The Kaduna State Inter Secondary Schools Games ends on Saturday with the football and athletics finals.
