The Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Adejumo Samuel popularly called “Agbarapo” has said that the local government elections conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) under former Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration is illegal and unconstitutional.
Hon Samuel made this known in a popular Yoruba radio programme “Ijoba – Ibile” on February 1 in Ibadan, the state capital.
In his view, Samuel said the present administration of governor Seyi Makinde is a government that respect the rule of law and will always be ready to abide to the outcome of the pending appeal case of the legality on the leadership of the administration of local government areas between the ruling party,PDP and APC in the state.
He opined that, the Attorney General of the federation is the legal adviser to the federal government and not the court of law to give order to any state governor.”the government of Eng.Seyi Makinde is backed by the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria,1999 as amended to fill in any vaccum created within the state.
The legislative adviser, however advised the people of the state to be rest assured of normalcy in the Local government leadership tussel in the state.
He enjoined the National Union of Local government employee (NULGE) to resume duty in various Local government areas without fear and warned the Associations of Local Government of Nigeria( ALGON) in Oyo state to desist from calling themselves constituted authority which they were not constitutionally recognized.
