Professor Attahiru Jega

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega has described the parties that ruled Nigeria since the advent of the present democratic dispensation  from 1999 as two sides of the same coin.

AUTHENTIC News Daily reports that he expressed this on Saturday in Kaduna, while presenting the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) SWOT Committee report to the Joint Meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party as the chairman of the committee.

According to him, they have done their best for Nigeria, but should give way for an ideological party like PRP to bring genuine progress to the country.

Represented by the Secretary of  the PRP SWOT Analysis Committee, Professor Momodu Kassim Momodu, he said as it stands, only a PRP government can bring about such desired changes as yearned for by Nigerians.

“They have tried, but the nation has to move to the next level. Nigerians have seen it all, I believe PRP will be that party that will fulfill the expectations of Nigerians,” he said.

Professor Momodu who said that he is not a member of the PRP, but served as a consultant and secretary of the SWOT Committee of the party, said that if he were to join any party in Nigeria, it would be PRP because of its ideology.

He expressed apologies on behalf of Professor Jega for being absent, informing that it was as a result of need for medical urgency outside Nigeria.

Earlier in his remarks, PRP National Chairman,  Malam Falalu Bello expressed the party’s appreciation to the committee, adding that even though they were not leadership of the party as at the time it was constituted.

“I  would like to particularly express our Party’s special thanks to the following sub-committee Members who were not part of the leadership of the PRP at the time the sub-committees were set up, but who nevertheless went on to play invaluable roles in the work of these sub-committees,” he said.
