*says over 63,000 benefitting from conditional cash transfers in Kogi

In recognition of his inspiring and laudable achievements, the Arewa Youth Elites Initiative Forum, has presented an award to the Kogi State Focal Person, National Social Investment Programme (SIP) and former SA to Governor Yahaya Bello  on Job Creation, Honourable Abdulkareem  Onyekehi Suleiman.

Presenting the award ‘Icon of Youth Development’, on Saturday in Kaduna, National President, Arewa Youth Elites Initiative Forum, Comrade Mukhtar Zubairu said that it was in appreciation of efforts he has out into empowering youth, notably the training of  over 3,00 youth on vocational skills acquisition.

“We are hoping that in the long run, Kogi State would be able to stand on its own without federal allocation because of massive resources and potentials of the state and the zeal of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello in harnessing same by engaging dedicated youth like you,” he said.

Speaking further, he stressed that Kogi State is blessed with natural resources that makes it the envy of others.

“We have so many rocks which are potentials to generate huge resources,” he added.

The group requested for an audience with Governor Yahaya Bello to appreciate him for so many achievements recorded.

In an interview with newsmen after the presentation, he said that it is a special day for him, for a national organization to present the award to him, adding that it would encourage him to do more and shoe that youth can do more.

“In my new office, we have Npower, market money, home grown school feeding and conditional cash transfer.

“The status of achievement of conditional transfer was 11,000 but in less than a year, we have hit 62,300 beneficiaries benefitting 10,000 bimonthly.
” For Npower, our status stands at  12,000 beneficiaries, while  4,100 have been touched with market money,” he said.

Speaking further, he said that they are about  to recruit more caterers for the home grown school feeding programme, while stressing that the impact of social investment programme in Kogi State s huge.

“I want to use this opportunity to commend President Muhammadu Buhari because of impact at the grassroots. We are committed to doing more,” he assured.
