While some states of the Federation, including the FCT, Abuja, have received the Torch of Unity, it will be the turn of Kaduna State, to receive it on Tuesday, February,18 2020.
Speaking on the readiness of Kaduna state for the reception of the Torch, Commissioner for Sports Development, Professor Kabir Mato assured of leaving no stone unturned to host the delegation in grand style.
This is as the 2020 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Benin City, Edo State draws nearer, the festival’s symbol of unity, peace and growth in Nigeria, the Torch of Unity, has been moving across the 36 States’ capitals of the country, including the FCT, Abuja, to create awareness of the events and re-echo its relevance to national peace, cohesion and development.
The Northwest Zonal Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development will receive the torch from the leader of the delegation at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS) Kaduna, after which, it will handed over to the ministry’s torch bearer and the tour will start from ABS through Junction Road, through Ahmadu Bello Way to Ali Akilu Road, through SCOA to and finally end at the gate of the Murtala Mohammed Square.
From there, the Director of Sports will receive the torch from the torch bearer and handover to the Honourable Commissioner of Sports Development, Professor Kabir Mato who will in turn pass it over to His Excellency, the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai for his goodwill message after which the state’s athletes’ representative will receive it and move round the Murtala Mohammed syquare before returning it to the coordinator for onward movement to another state for similar ceremony.
