AMDF Rise Up Team has met with policy implementers on the new policy on free and compulsory education for girls in public secondary schools in Kaduna State.
The meeting had in attendance, zonal directors of education, SBMC, PTA, ANCOPPS, teachers and other stakeholders.
The aim of the meeting was to educate the policy implementer’s on the new policy and what is expected on them.
Speaking on the Rise Up project and what AMDF has done, the Project Manager, Benjamin Maigari appreciated the participants and informed them that AMDF with support from the Public Health Institute of John Hopkins University on its Rise up project with support from Cummins INC is advocating for a policy document on the free and compulsory education for girls in public secondary schools in Kaduna State.
He informed them that the state with support from the project has developed a policy document that is waiting for the approval of the state governor.
He told them that the program thou laudable from inception lacks a supporting document.
The project manager told the meeting that being the implementers of the programme they need to know what the policy is and work towards it’s actualization.
The various zonal directors appreciated the Rise up project and said this is the first time they are involved in policy process.
They said being the policy implementer’s, they expected the government to carry then along.
The various participants promised to put in their best possible for the actualization of the policy in the state.
They appreciated the executive Governor of Kaduna State for giving the children of the poor the opportunity to have quality education.
They equally called on the state government to make provisions in all the schools the basic needs that will enhance free education in the state.
The meeting took place in Zaria, Kaduna and Kafanchan senatorial zones of the state.
