The Executive Director of Projects Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, has said that the NDDC Interim Management Committee would lay a foundation that will bring up the Commission back to what the founding fathers had in mind.
Dr. Ojougboh made this statement on Thursday during a major inspection of completed and on going projects in Delta State
Ojougboh inspected the projects with introduction of a road inspection machine known as, Asphalt/Concrete Coring Machine to fully assess the level of works done on NDDC roads if they met specifications.
The Acting Executive Director of Projects with his technical team, while inspecting the ongoing 14.80Km road project by SETRACO Limited at Ojobo-Tamigbe-Bomadi local government area of State, also expressed satisfaction over the quality of asphalt used on the road, saying that it met the NDDC’s specification.
Ojougboh said; “Our desire is that when we as the Interim Board leaves the NDDC, we would have laid a track that can lead the NDDC to the greater goals so we are taking our time, we do not mind the pains or struggles to make sure that we lay the foundation that will bring up the NDDC to what the founding fathers had in mind.
“This 14.80Km road Projects with Bridges is a sort of regional project that NDDC should concetrate on; and from what we have seen, the quality of road is encouraging. We want our local contractors to emulate this standard of work.
“You have seen that, now the NDDC is a new NDDC and no longer the NDDC of old. We are able to now core the asphalts to know that the thickness is according to specification.
“The only problem we have now is that, this multi-billion 14.80km Bomadi road contract is engrossly over valued. So our qantity survivors and our team of engineers will see how the commission can get to the correct and appropriate pricing and then we will now talk with the contractors on how to address the issue. However this project is something Beautiful to the eyes.
“Therefore the commission would want to bring a lot of our jobs to this standard. I seize this opportunity to thank the engineering team working for the Commission and also the Press Men for your commitment and good works you all have been doing”.
The NDDC’s Technical Team also inspected other major projects in Delta State which includes, construction of Gbaregolor/Gbekebor/Ogulagha road, phase 1 with Bridges, construction of modern motor park with shops/toilets at Esenaebe Community Bomadi Overside, Bomadi LGA, Reclamation of Abigborodo community and Housing units (Lot 4) and Sand filling, lot 7 Shore-Protection Abigborodo, emergency Repairs of failed and unmotorable sections of Ekrerhanwen Orhokpokpor road Agbarho and others.
