It was a black evening for the family of Sunday Ali on Friday, a native of Ezza Effium in Ohaukwu Council Area, Ebonyi State whose son identified as late Master Ndubuisi Ali, aged-16 allegedly hit his head on a pavement and died while running away from his elder brother that he ate his food.
Narrating the mysterious experience, the decease father, Mr. Sunday Ali said on the fateful day his son fell down while running in their living room but efforts to rescucitate his to life were futile.
According to him,” What happened was that one of my sons fell inside parlour and with the help of the elder brother, we rushed him with motorcycle to the hospital, but despite medical personnels’ efforts to rescucitate him, he died.
“All the medical personnel on duty did their best including testing which they told me he had wound in his brain but he confirmed dead at end.
The deceased father explained that after his son’s death, he was arrested and taken to Central Police Station Abakaliki Along Ogoja-Enugu Highway where he passed the night at canter, prompting his elderly son to run away from further detention.
“I was arrested which for fear of being detained too, my elderly son ran away.
“I was taken to Central police station Abakaliki, and I spent my night at the counter till morning when my people came for my release for me to go bury my dead son but I can’t tell if I was granted bail or not.
Speaking with the landlord’s son, Mr. Okemini David, while confirming the report, he hinted that the ugly incident happened around 7pm, stating that he was informed of their tenant’s son’s death which all efforts to save his life were in vain.
“It was around 7-8pm that sorrowful day that I got information that one our tenant’s son that his brother was pursuing for eating food made for him and he hits his head on the pavement. Quickly, I learnt his father who was inside their room and neighbours rushed him with motorcycle to the hospital but he didn’t make it.
He frowned on action of men of Neighbourhood Watch who according to him visited the scene and extorted them some money before police arrest of the decease father.
Reacting to the incident, Member Representing Abakaliki North in Ebonyi State House of Assembly,Hon.Franca Okpo, console the family for the irreparable loss but advised them to consult the Doctor on duty to know the true cause of the boy’s death by carrying out autopsy.
The lawmaker assured them of getting State Government palliative material when distribution kick off but warned against crowding their house amidst the Covid-19 scourge.
Meanwhile, Our Reporter learnt that the accused son who allegedly was playing with the late Ndubuisi asking he must provide his food is still at large as at the time of filling this report.
