Religious leaders that go out of the teachings in the Holy Books have been blamed for several crisis occuring in the community.
Project Coordinator, Caritas Foundation (Zaman Tare), Cletus Aloke expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen on the sidelines of the Zaman Tare Two-Day Training of Government Actors On Legal Instruments To Cultural and Religious Pluralism in Kaduna from Tuesday 28 to Wednesday July 29, 2020 in Kaduna.
“We were able to understand that our religious leaders go out of the book to teach what incites their followers,” he said.
He explained that the essence of the three-day event is to bring traditional and religious leaders up to speed on how best to manage conflicts and ensure peaceful coexistence.
“We brought them together to fashion out way forward,” he added.
Speaking further, he said that in the course of the workshop, they also discussed how the Social Media can be balanced to avoid being used negatively to create crisis.
Aloke said that there is the need for government and the citizens to come and work together to ensure peace in communities.
“The project started in 2018 with research on the theme of the project with researches from Unijos and KASU,” he recalled.
