In line with the desire of the Chief of Army Staff to provide easily accessible and adequate health care services to Nigerian Army personnel and their families as well as the host communities, the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital at Nkwagu Military Cantonment, Abakaliki Ebonyi State was successfully conducted on Friday August 7, 2020.

His Excellency the Governor of Ebonyi State Chief Engr Dave Nwaeze Umahi was the Special Guest of Honour, while the Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Army Lt Gen LO Adeosun represented the Chief of Army Staff at the occasion.
Deputy Governor of Anambra State Dr Nkem Okeke and Deputy Governor of Abia State Rt Hon Ude Okochukwu represented the Governors of Anambra and Abia States.
While the Speaker Ebonyi State House of Assembly, some members of the States Executive Councils, Chief Of Administration (Army) Major General Usman Yakubu, General Officer Commandig 82 Division Major General Lasisi Adegboye and other senior military officers both serving and retired are among the dignitaries that attended the occasion.
