As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate the “World Food Day” on October 16, 2020, the Executive Director, Farm Development Volunteers Initiative (FADEVOIN), Comrade (Engr.) Fuludu Raphael has urged critical stakeholders in the agricultural sector to scale up action to strengthen food security in the country.
Comrade Fuludu made the call at a press conference in commemoration of the “World Food Day” 2020, in Warri, Delta State. On Thursday, October 15. 2020

He said. “farmers and agro-processors should be supported so as to improve the food systems.
“Farm Heroes” who are working tirelessly to provide food for the nation’s growing economy, stakeholders in agricultural, rice farmers should improve on their processing methods.
“It is “unsafe” to eat rice with sand and stones that were produced locally since the ban on importation of rice into the Country by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government.
“The World Food Day is an international day set aside in honour of the date the United Notions (UN) Food and Agricultural Organization, FAO was founded in 1945.
“The theme for this year’s celebration is”Grow, Nourish and sustain together.
“The World’s Food Day 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of the FAO in an exceptional moment as the world at large is battling and dealing with the widespread effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
“The pandemic provides the opportunity for reflection. This is the best time”.
