The Sokoto State Government’ in North-West Nigeria has vowed to take steps to improve the quality of teaching and learning in almajiri schools in the state.
The Commissioner, Ministry for Religious Affairs, Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu, who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Sokoto, said the state government is committed to improving the standard of Almajiri Schools through providing all the needs required in the schools.
Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu , explained that the state government is working hard to ensure that almajiri system of education compete favourably with their counterparts from conventional schools.
He added that, Sokoto State has two almajiri integrated schools one in Shuni Local Government Area and one in Wamako Local Government’ Area of the state, which are now fully functional.
He said all the schools were provided with all facilities required for teaching and learning such as feeding, transportation fees and health care of the students.
The commissioner said the students were selected from 25 local government area of the state, Saying that the government is ready to provide whatever the schools need based on the availability of resources.
