Two staff of the Colleges Of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Kaduna State College Of Education Gidan Waya Chapter, Mr. David Madami Sarkinnoma and Mr. Christopher Nuhu Yerimah have emerged winners of.the Social Media Man of Year Award 2020.
This was contained in a statement signed by Matthew Williams Barde, made available to our correspondent by a third party, which informed that they emerged winners on WhatsApp and Facebook categories respectively.
“On 13th December, 2020, I made the above post wherein I stated among others on the need to appreciate and recognize persons who have in one way or another help to keep the group alive and active.
“I made it clear that it is my PERSONAL nomination and award based on my observations of members contribution on the platform.
“I have done similar awards in three other WhatsApp platforms including our sister platform (KSCOE FORUM) and the creteria for my choice were made known,” it said.
According to Barde, he hesitated to proceed with that of COEASU because of some issues that came up and the fact that COEASU operates on two social media platforms, WhatsApp and Facebook.
“However, after careful analysis of the idea behind the award and the need to promote and appreciate one another, I have decided to proceed to announce my COEASU SOCIAL MEDIA MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER.
“But this award is in two categories, the WhatsApp award winner and the Facebook Ward winner.
“The WHATSAPP SOCIAL MEDIA MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER for 2020 based on my personal assessment goes to Mr. David Madami Sarkinnoma.
“Mr. David Madami is a fine tall handsome gentleman from CRS Department at IJMB unit.
“He is the one who created the COEASU WhatsApp group and telegram.
“He has remained consistent in posting relevant information beneficial to members of the group.
“He has also been active in censoring members on posts that are not relevant to the group.
“Mr. Madami has also been prompt in notifying colleagues about moment of joy or sorrow of fellow colleagues.
“As we start the year 2021, I wish Mr David Madami Sarkinnoma, aka, the General, more of God’s blessings, strength and wisdom in all his undertakings,” he said.
Similarly, he said that for the Facebook category, he carefully watched and followed the contributions of members in keeping the group alive and active.
“Therefore, today I have the honour and privilege to announce that Mr. Christopher Nuhu Yerima is my COEASU SOCIAL MEDIA MAN OF THE YEAR ( Facebook) category.
Mr. Christopher Yerima from the technical Department of the College has remained an active participant and a contributor on news and current affairs as it affect staff of the college and education in general.
“His update on issues as they pertains to the union on the platform cannot be denied. Besides, he has been the one that made it a point of duty to celebrate and notify members about birthdays of staff .
“This has given a lot of staff a sense of joy and belonging. He identifies with members through the platform in their moments of joy and sorrow. Based on these among others, he earned the COEASU Facebook category of my COEASU SOCIAL MEDIA MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD,2020.
“As we start the year 2021, I wish Mr. Christopher Nuhu Yerimah more strength, blessings, good health and abundant grace in all his endeavors. In my own humble way, iam sending 2gig data to this humble and amiable gentleman for his valuable contribtions to the group. Congratulations sir,” Barde said.
