The ongoing membership revalidation and membership registration of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gives ownership of the party to card carrying members and should be taken seriously by all present and intending members of the party.
Chairman Senate, Committee on Agriculture, Senator, Abdullahi Adamu stated this, when he was accompanied by his wife to revalidating his APC, membership card and registration at his unit in Keffi Nasarawa State on Thursday.
“Those who claim to be members without registration, hold no claim of being part of the party and cannot lay claims to anything the party wants to give members.
“The registration of new members provides opportunity to those who were not yet 18 years at the time the party started in 2014.
“Those who were old enough at that time and were with another party, and now want to join us, will have opportunity to do.so,” he said.
Speaking further, he expressed fears that the time stipulated for the registration and revalidation may not be enough.
“Our hope is that the 14 days set aside for revalidation/registration would be enough owing to the massive number of people desiring the APC membership card.
On unity of the party, he said that there is no group that does not suffer crisis, owing to individual differences.
“Every reasonable party member that has membership cardwill not create problem.
“But that does not mean that anywhere people are, there won’t be differences.
“But unity is important. I appreciate that there are people who are supposed to be patrons but are not seeing things the way I am seeing it.
“Take for instance, one of the founders of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, only last week, was making statements that were not positive.
“I need to remind them that in unity lies our strength,” he submitted.
