The President of the United Church of Christ In Nigeria known as HEKAN, Reverend Dr. Amos G. Kiri has said that the church has impacted positively in the life of its members and the entire Christian community.
Dr. Kiri noted that HEKAN as a denomination, has not done bad in the last sixty one years.
The HEKAN President disclosed this during the year 2021 National Convention of the church which coincides with its 61st anniversary
“I wish to thank God for the journey so far in the life of this church, standing here we are all part of the history and sixty one years is not six days.
“Everyone of us is highly honoured and appreciateu to be part of this great day. At sixty one it doesn’t mean that we have arrived. We are on the course of the journey as long as Jesus Christ tarries,” the HEKAN President added.
Reverend Amos Kiri appealed to the entire HEKAN members to continue to work hard in ensuring that the church remains united irrespective of any differences.
According to him, the different uniforms used by various District Church Councils is a clear indication and display of unity in diversity.
According to him, HEKAN will continue to remain united in spite of all challenges, expressing optimism that the church will overcome its challenges and bounce back.
The HEKAN President, Reverend Kiri who also doubles as the Main Speaker of this Year’s Convention and 61st Anniversary, described the ceremonial parade and display by the Boys Brigade Nigeria (HEKAN Fellowship) as wonderful and prophesied that future Military Generals and leaders will emerge among the boys.
He commended their unrelenting efforts in making all the programmes more interesting and attractive.
Present at the ceremony included chairman of the occasion, General Paul C. Tarfa (RTD) Board members of the church, Retired HEKAN Clergies and friends of the church.
Highlights of the colorful ceremony were Anniversary March Past by DCCs, Lighting of Anniversary Light among others.
