Hosts Stallion Spikers (Ribadu Cantonment) have emerged winners of the First Inter Barracks Volleyball Championship, sponsored by NIgeria Volleyball Federation NVBF President,, Engineer Musa Nimrod.
At the final decided at the Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna on Saturday May 15, 2021, they beat hard fughting Bayonnet Spikers 3-1 in a tension filled game in the male category.
In the first set of the game, Stallion Strikers scored 25 points, while Bayonnet garnered 20.
The second set saw Stallion hit 25 points, while Bayonnet stole the show with 27.
Third set was again a win for hosts Stallion, who were five points superior to their opponents as it ended 25-20.
The fourth set was yet again, claimed by Stallion Spikers to end the interesting final, 3-1.
44 Barracks emerged third after beating Kalapanzi Barracks in the third place match.
In the female category, Ribadu emerged winners with five points.
Kalapanzi settled for silver with four points, while Bayonnet trailed behind with zero points to finish third.
High point of the closing ceremony was the presentation of trophies, and cash prizes N60,000 third position, second position N80,000, N100,000 to winners as well as Volleyball balls to all teams that participated, while nets and balls used for the championship were donated to hosts, Ribadu Cantonment.
Nine teams participated they are; Ribadu, 44 and Dalet in Group A, while Bayonet, NAF Base and Kalapanzi will be competing in Group B for male.
The female teams are, Ribadu, Bayonet and Kalapanzi who played in a round robin fixture from where winners emerged.
It was organised by the Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KASAVA) in collaboration with the Ex Ribadu Cantonment Old Boys and Girls Association (ERCBG).
