Amb Hussaini H. Coomassie has congratulated Major General Faruk Yahaya on his appointment as the 22nd Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Amb (Dr) Hussaini H. Coomassie is the Continental Director General, Advocacy for Good Governance & Social justice Network Global, who spoke to some selected journalists in his country home, Katsina, described the new COAS as someone who will continue with the good work that late Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru had started.
He said that the appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari is both commendable and well deserved.
The Ambassador applauded the President for the excellent choice of Maj. Gen Yahaya, who according to him, is a detribalised Nigerian who loves the country with a passion.
“Until his appointment he was GOC 1 Div Kaduna, where he reduced banditry drastically along Kaduna-Abuja expressway, by deploying women soldiers to tackle insecurity along the road for the first time among other strategies.
“Not only that, he brought sanity within Kaduna and neighboring states and it actually yielded favourable results.
“He was thereafter, posted to Borno as Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai.
“I first met the new COAS when he was a Lt. Colonel at Army HQ and I enjoyed associating with him because of his dedication to duty and above all, he isvery religious.
“I wish him well, and may Allah grant him the wisdom and more courage to tackle Boko Haram, Eastern Security Network, Sunday Igboho led terror group, kidnapping, banditry and other organised security challenges to make Nigeria a better place.
“Surely, Buhari will not regret his choice of Gen Faruk Yahaya insha Allah,” Amb Coomassie added.
