ABG Counts Gains Of CAA, Congratulates Zaria For Hosting 2021 African Athletics Competition

As Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), Region II Championship, tagged Zaria 2021 enters day two, Hon Shehu Bawa popularly known as ABG has said that the Zaria community and Nigeria at large would reap immense human and material gains for hosting 14 nations in the latest edition of the sporting event first of its kind after the Covid19 pandemic.

ABG who is also the Chief Organizer of the event listed economic benefits, unity and love, image laundering, improving and showcasing Nigeria’s athletes to the outside world, among others as possible harvests the hosting community and nation stood to reap from the competition he described as timely.

The former federal legislator noted that sport had the magic of uniting heterogeneous people irrespective of their race, colour, religion and political leanings, urging private and corporate entities to do more in sponsorship and encouraging sport events especially among grassroot members of the society which according to him, would go a long way in ridding the larger society of crime and antisocial behaviors.

“Important roles sports play in development of critical sector of the economy cannot be overemphasized because through sport infrastructures have been built to make life worthwhile.

“Over the years our athletes have gained global recognition by participating in international competitions and have come back home with medals.

“It is our objective to rekindle passion and zeal in our youth to see athletics as part of life, vocation and avenue to develop the society.

“I am pleased to inform you that this edition of CAA’s Zaria 2021 is one of the best in terms of preparedness, welfare, security and high level of participation by member countries.

“I commend Engr. Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, the president Athletic Federation of Nigeria and also Vice president of CAA Region II for his ingenuity, commitments and passion to develop his people through sports.

“I must acknowledge the support and fatherly counsels and inputs we got from his Royal Highness, Ambassador Nuhu Bamali who has been a strong pillar of support for hosting this edition of CAA in the ancient city of Zaria” ABG said.
