An NGO, Bridge That Gap Hope for Africa Initiative, on Saturday took its tree planting campaign to Young Men Christian Association Nursery and Primary School (YMCA), Sabon Tasha, Kaduna as part of efforts to restore the ecosystem.

Gloria Bulus, Executive Director of the NGO, said that the exercise was to make children understand the need to live in harmony with nature for sustainable development.
According to her, the target is to reach out to school children to make them know the importance of the ecosystem and how to protect it, with tips to restore the ecosystem.
Bulus said that the only way to ensure sustainable development is to `catch them young and get them to be aware of the importance of the environment’.
“There is a need for children to learn about the importance of the environment at an early age so that when they grow up, we can guarantee a sustainable and eco-friendly environment,” she said.
Bulus said the trees planted would be named after some of the stakeholders who ensured that children have a good education in the school.
The students were taught with fun-filled activities and visuals on tips to restore the ecosystem.
Philip Yashim, the Head Teacher of the school, who commended the NGO for the gesture, also assured that the trees would be properly nurtured.
He said, “With the coming of COVID-19 we wash our hands every day, we will do the same by watering these trees, I will not let the trees die before those who they are named after.”
