The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, has expressed confidence that despite the machinations of those opposed to the state government, the will of the people will not be truncated, maintaining that “the evil plan of some disgruntled agents of destabilisation will not materialise in the state.”
According to a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, Pastor Oluwawole stated this at the monthly prayer meeting organised by the Assembly at its chamber in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Monday.
The lawmaker called on Ekiti people to have faith in God and to always pray, stressing that with prayers, every adversary confronting the state would be put to shame.
The Speaker, who quoted from Psalm 24 in his message, called on the Assembly staff to keep praying for peace, stability and progress of the Ayo Fayose-led administration, saying the administration was ordained from heaven.
The Chaplain of the state Government House, Pastor Seyi Olusola, in his sermon at the service, charged the people of Ekiti to shun unfounded tale bearing.
Pastor Olusola, who described tale bearing as “a great sin in the sight of God,” said any society that promoted unsubstantiated tale bearing would always run into crisis.
He charged the people of the state to always be courageous, noting that “with prayers, all battles will be won.”
In his contributions, the Clerk of the House, Mr Tola Esan, charged the Assembly staff to be diligent and shun acts capable of dragging the legislative arm of government in the mud.
