Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Comrade Shehu Sani has hailed the decision of the Federal Government to reopen the murder of former Attorney-General, Bola Ige.
Sani in a message on Sunday, described the opening of the case as a welcome development.
He explained that the Federal Government must not just stop at Ige’s murder, but also ensure justice is served following suspicious deaths of others, including the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 election, Chief Moshood Kolawole Abiola.
“Reopening the case of the Cold blood murder of our uncle Bola Ige and others is a welcome development; Justice must be done.However,reopening the cases of the deaths of Chief MKO Abiola,Late Gen Sani Abacha and Tafidan Katsina Shehu Musa Yar’adua,Sheikh Jaafar Adam and Sheikh Albani will be of interest to justice and to history,” he said.
AUTHENTIC News Daily recalls that former Governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, former Minister of Transport, Chief Ebenezer Babatope and National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Mr Yinka Odumakin, had earlier urged President Buhari to extend the probe to the litany of unresolved killings in the country.
Chief Olu Falae had expressed optimism that the new probe would fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly acts.
Ige was Murdered on December 23, 2001 he was among the many politicians who were killed during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The killings, especially that of Ige, led to the exchange of verbal missiles between former President Obasanjo and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, who at a stage accused the then ruling PDP of harbouring a nest of killers.
