Former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa State, Engr. Marcus Gundiri, has said nobody can stand against his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) stressing that he belongs to the party from onset and those behind the plan were making a big mistake.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Gundiri said APC is not a new party to him, adding that he has been a founding member of the party from the formative stage.
“Well, those people that they said are the top shots that did not want us to come back are the people who were not in the party at the formative stage because, I will tell you, that those people that they said came to complain that we should not be in the party were not there when we started the party.
“They were just comers that came to join the party at a later stage when we had already finished the foundation and the party had already been established. So, they are the people that are strange to the APC, anybody who was with us from the onset will always like us to be in the party and therefore, they are strangers, they are sojourners.
Mentioning the names of former Vice president Atiku Abubakar and the governor Adamawa Jubrila Bindow as those speculated to be against his defection, Gundiri said “I do not know if they were the people at the national secretariat of APC but all am saying is whoever does not want Marcus Gundiri in the APC is making a big mistake because that is my party.
“I have laboured to establish that and at least let me participate from where I stop and I said those people who went to secretariat to complain are new people in the party, it was after we have formally established that party they came in, so, I am not sure who they are but I am telling you that they made a mistake.”
Both Gundiri and former chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) Nuhu Ribadu, defected back to APC last week
