Gallant troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army in a joint operation with personnel of Nigeria Police and local vigilantes have today repelled a coordinated attack by gunmen on Godogodo town of Kaduna State, arresting six suspects.
A statement signed by the actiƱg Director, Army Public Relations, Sani Usman Kukasheka, suspects arrested are: Lawal Gambo, Yau Sani, Bala Amodu, Ibrahim Maikaru, Abubakar Hassan and Bashiru Isa Ciroma.
“The troops fought off the attackers and pursued them into the bush inflicting heavy casualty on them.
“Unfortunately 4 local vigilantes lost their lives while another 9 were wounded in the course of countering the dastardly attack meant to cause more loss of lives and properties of law abiding citizens of Godogodo Town,” the statement said.

“We wish to reassure citizens that the effort to safeguard life and property will continue with renewed vigour until all the rampaging bandits are brought to justice,” it added.
But an account from a different source was slightly different, as it explained that the attack took place on Saturday against the Army statement that pointed out at Sunday.
“At about 3 mins past the hour of 3pm yesterday an attack on the Joint task force camp located at the Post Office Godogodo took place. But the joint task force overcame them and repel them. One of the gunmen was killed in the course of the confrontation.
“The four locals who were killed joint the task force in chasing after the gunmen. This information is necessary in order to dismiss the fabricated story that over a hundred people were killed and all houses completely razed down.
“No single house was destroyed. However due to fear of the unknown many flee their homes leaving behind many too. As of now we have recieved more reinforcement on the both the Army and the police.
“On behalf of the council we welcome the just arrived battalion of soldiers to our LG. I know Lt. Col.Bello have fully briefed you on our predicament. Our peace and unity as a people is been threatened and under attack. I believe you are here to consolidate on the effort of your colleagues to establish a lasting solution to this monster. I have no doubt that your bravery would put the ability of those cowards hiding to attack to an end. This is a call to duty and this is what you took an oath to do,to defend an uphold the unity of this country by the use of force to call to order it’s enemies. I know God is here with you.
For the good people of Godogodo, I appreciate your courage and confidence to stay behind despite the threat. I also thank you for acknowledging and disputing negative stories so fabricated to make your home appear a ghost. One thing I know that everything that is about to come down when thrown up must attain it peak. This has reach its peak and it’s end is by the corner. In this trying moments we need more of one another than allowing elements of disintegration. I urge you to stay United despite religious and tribal differences so that together we’ll continue to confront our common enemy.” I left Godogodo at about 5:30 pm and the joint tasks force is fully reinforced to carry out effective operations. We call on the People of Godogodo to remain calm and those who left home to come back.”
