The Kaduna State Cricket team on Monday emerged champions of the 2016 Youths games after defeating hosts Kwara in the final match to clinch the first gold medal.

The match was played in the main bowl University of Ilorin.
They beat Kwara by 10 wickets in the finals of the 2nd edition of the National Youth Games.
Earlier, they thrashed Rivers State in their knock-out match with 7 runs and also won Sokoto by 7 wicket in the semi-final match to qualify for the final against Kwara State.
In the female final, Anambra beat opponents Akwa Ibom by 7 wickets.
Speaking after the match, Coach of Kaduna Cricket, Obinna Elise expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance adding that it was a deserved victory.
“I am happy to win a gold medal for Kaduna State because we worked for it and it was a deserved victory.
“We did not break the genes and has always been on the run for medals which we got again today.
