BB4P Gifts North East LGA  First Ever Basketball Court

The Basketball For Peace (BB4P) organization has handed over the first ever basketball court in the North Eastern town of Doho in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State.
This was contained in a statement signed by BB4P’s Assistant Programme Manager, Mr. Edward Tox, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday.
According to the statement, the constructed and equipped court was handed over on Saturday at a well attended ceremony.
According to the statement, with the commissioning of the new court, Doho Community Secondary School is now one of the peace zones established by Basketball 4 Peace, a non-governmental organization established in 2003 by the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Basketball Foundation and sponsored by United States of America (USA)
In his remarks at the event, State Coordinator BB4P, Faleh Suleiman, commended BB4P for the gesture.
“I thank all the organisers of  this great event, ( BB4P) especially coach Oliver B. Johnson (Programme Officer), Eddie Tox (Assistant Program Officer), Ademola ( Technical Officer) and Innocent Ibrahim (Operations Officer).
“I also wish to thank them for my  recognition as an ambassador of peace zones in the North East Nigeria. I’m very grateful for this  and I will do my best to uplift the game of basketball in the North East and beyond. That’s why many people regard BB4P  as ‘Complete Grassroots Package For Peace’ Why don’t you call them on 08033572126 and be part of peace.
“I also wish to thank the principal, his assistant, board members and all the teachers of Doho Community Secondary School for their cooperation. “Our thanks also goes to the Sarki of Doho and all the people of Doho for their support.  We also appreciate Inspector Zika Jerry for taking his time all the way from Gombe to give a lecture on crime,” he said.
He also included Coach James Kunle Alayande of Emerald Royal Guest Inn Gombe and Kachalla Bappah for their support.
Doho town is a small community under Kwami Local Government Area in Gombe State, located about eighteen kilometers away from Gombe State capital, it has been in existence for about eight hundred years with a population  of about ten thousand people, dominated by Tera (Terawa) ethnic group, one of the largest ethnic groups in Gombe State.
It was gathered that in spite of the number of graduates, politicians and  businessmen, Doho town and the entire Kwami Local Government Area had no  basketball court before BB4P’s intervention.
BB4P is purely designed to promote community co-existence, education, security, early warning system, job creation using the game of basketball in an atmosphere of peace .
The organisation normally works in the following ways; It identifies a community where basketball doesn’t exist or it has been abandoned,  engages  both male and female players ( gender friendly), preaches peace and education in all it activities, stresses  obedience as the rules for success and remains the quickest and the cheapest way to restore peace in any community.
Since 2003, it has established more than 50 basketball peace zones (basketball courts) in 16 Nigerian States.
