Residents of Bayan Dutse a suburb in Narayi, Kaduna are calling on the state government to as a matter of urgency come to their aid as a certain drugs seller known as Madam Doctor is helping to make their youths addicts of cough syrups, popularly known as codeine.
Speaking to the New Nigerian Newspapers, a concerned parent, Mr. Larry Daniel, said in the past, reports were made to the police but it appears that the police might have been compromised, because the woman has not stopped the sale of this prescription drugs.
He wondered what the district head of the area was doing to help curb the activities of this drug seller, and her husband.
Another person who spoke, Mama Dele (who said her two children were already addicts), said when she met the woman to beg her to stop selling the drugs to the youths unless prescribed, she shunned her (Mama Dele), and urged her go and invite the police, adding that she was only making money.
This reporter was told the same thing when he visited the woman (Madam Doctor) to get her own side of the story.
Residents are also calling on NAFDAC and NDLEA, to come to their rescue. The shop which is located along Makarfi road, by Sarki Pawa road junction, Bayan Dutse, Narayi, is a bee-hive of activities every morning and early hours of the evening with youths from 20 years to 35 years patronizing Madam Doctor.
