The Senate President/Chairman of the National Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has given a nod to the forthcoming National Colloquium on Election, Corruption and Roadmap to 2019 being organized by the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in collaboration with PAX.
The colloquium which is scheduled to hold at the historic Arewa House Kaduna on May 24, will serve as a National Democracy Day commemorative event to review the 2015 elections and chart a way for 2019 general elections.

Dr. Saraki told organisers of the event who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja that their role would go a long way in strengthening democracy in Nigeria saying “We will support you”.

The Senate President reminded them of the amendment to the Electoral Act by the National Assembly, which he said, would ensure transparency in the country’s electoral process.

Dr. Saraki expressed optimism that the colloquium would come up with suggestions along with the efforts of the Senate, which is always determined and focused to meet its obligations for the growth of democracy in Nigeria.

He however, advised the media to remain factual in their reportage.

On his nomination for the Award of Most Outstanding Lawmaker of the year, Dr. Saraki said he felt highly honored for the award, adding that it would further encourage him to do more in his service to the nation.

The highly elated Senate President also acknowledged the profound contributions by Senators from Kaduna State saying the state should be happy to have active and hardworking Senators.

“They are over representing Kaduna State in the Senate’’, he said.

Presenting letters of invitation to the colloquium and notification of the award, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Council of (NUJ), Comrade Adamu Yusuf reminded the Senate President that Kaduna remains the hub of media activities in the northern part of the country, and had taken coqnisance of his positive style of leadership which has brought stability and sanity to the Upper Chamber.

“Your compassion for the people around you has made you a leader with a difference, just like the popular saying, like father like son. You will be used as case study not only in Nigeria but the world over, a leader who succeeds despite all odds.
“You are not distracted by any opposition; instead, you remain focused and prayerful knowing that your strength comes from God for the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

“We urge you to continue to keep the winning attitude. There are wild animals on the way, face them. The bigger they are, the harder they fall,”Adamu stated.
