2050: One In 10 Children Worldwide Would Be A Nigerian – UNICEF

In view of the projection that by the year 2050, one out of 10 children in the world will be a Nigerian, the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has alerted that there is need to start planning ahead.
Deputy Country Representative of UNICEF, to Nigeria, Penille Iornside, expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen during the Fifth Chukker Charity Shield Polo Tournament which ended  in Kaduna on Sunday.
She explained that for 11 years, UNICEF has partnered with Fifth Chukker Polo Club and Resorts in putting smiles on the faces of children in nearby communities.
“It is the 11th year of this partnership. It is really a rewarding partnership for children in the community, that is ensuring they fulfill their potentials,” she added.
Iornside disclosed that the intervention from the partnership has touched no fewer than 13,000 children.
She was however, unhappy that statistics show that 10.5 million children of school age in Nigeria are not in school.
