The Kaduna Rugby Club, on Wednesday secured  from a Magistrates’ Court restraining the Kaduna State Government from taking possession of its premises.

The Magistrate, Bilkisu Mohammed, also ordered the parties to maintain status quo until the determination of the matter.

The court gave the order following prayers by John Balami, counsel to the Rugby Club, that the state government had already demolished part of the premises located on Waff road in Kaduna.

Balami said the state government had offered the owners of the club N26 million for the premises, which the owners rejected.

He urged the court to declare that the owners as averred in the affidavit were the bona-fide owners of the property.

The counsel also prayed the court to set aside the sale, assignment or sub-division of the rugby club and house.

He sought for perpetual injunction restraining the government or its privies from interfering with the plaintiff’s drive way, club house and Rugby pitch.
