Christ Comprehensive College Maul GSS Ungwan Rimi Kaje 6-1 To Lift Kaduna Copa Coca Cola

    Christ Comprehensive College Sabon Tasha have emerged Kaduna State champions of the 2017 edition of the U-15 Copa Coca Cola after mauling opponents, Government Secondary School Ungwan Rimi Kaje 6-1 in the final played at the Rimi College, Kaduna on Friday.

    Three goals were scored by the champions in each half, while the runners-up pulled one back in the second half.

    By virtue of their win, they would be representing their state at the regional final, billed to commence in Abuja on  June 5.

    Where they would slug it out with champions from three states; Kano, Benue and Niger.

     

    Earlier in the third place match, Sardauna Memorial College Kaduna  walked over opponents, Government Commercial College Makarfi who failed to show up on the pitch at the designated time for kick off, handing them the advantage of becoming the bronze medalists.

    In an interview with newsmen after their victory, coach of Comprehensive College attributed their win to hard work and dedication.

    He explained that in spite of financial challenges, they were able to emerge winners, while adding that being together for seven years was an advantage for his players.

    Speaking further, he disclosed that the strategy he hopes to adopt at the regional final would be to study his opponents and know their strength and weaknesses.

    Also speaking, the Kaduna Copa Coca Cola Supervisor, Marshal Kure said that eight teams would emerge from the regional final and compete for the grand final billed for Lagos at a date yet to be decided.

    He revealed that the top three teams from Lagos final will get individual and school’s prizes.

    “The first position will receive scholarship worth N500,000 for each player, while the school gets N2.2m. Second position each gets scholarship of N300,000 while third position gets N200,000,” she said.

    He also said that each state winners are to benefit from an upgrade of their playing pitches.

    A total of 117 schools participated in Kaduna State Copa Coca Cola.
