Police Machine Crush Narayi Empire To Lift Gana Sawa Peace Cup

    *Nimrod, Yusuf Best, SWAN, others recieve awards

    Brilliant Police Machine FC subdued hard fighting Narayi Empire Football Club 1-0 to emerge champions of the Engineer Gana Sawa Peace and Unity Cup decided on Friday at the main bowl of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

     

    The goal which separated both sides came early in the game, after which the remaining part of the first half and the second half suffered a goals drought.

    Earlier in the third place match, Emirate Football Academy Ungwan Rimi beat Glory FC Nassarawa 2-1 to emerge second runners-up.

    The high point of the closing ceremony was the presentation of a giant trophy and N50,000 cash prize to the winners.

    The second placed team got a trophy and N30,000, while the third got N20,000.

    In the individual prizes category, Gideon Audu emerged as the Youngest Player. Most Disciplined Team went to Hassan Football Academy, Sadik of Police Machines emerged Best Goalkeeper, Victor Okeke of Glorious Football Club won the Most Behaved Coach, Coach of the Tournament was clinched by Police Machine’s Salisu and Most Enterprising Goalkeeper went to Kamal Garba of Hot Sports Academy.

    For scoring nine goals in spite of not reaching the final, Ahmed Kabir Umar of GBS Academy finished as the Highest Goal Scorer, while Ezra Musa of Narayi Empire FC finished as the Most Valuable Player.

    Also merit awards were presented  to some individuals and bodies who have distinguished themselves in developing sports in Kaduna State.

    Notable among whom were Engineer Musa Nimrod, Engineer Yusuf Best, Abdulrazak Usman and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kaduna State Chapter.

    Speaking to newsmen after the closing ceremony, the sponsor, Engineer Gana Sawa vowed to sustain the competition until he takes his last breath.

    He said that in view of the importance of sports in building positive friendship through competitive rivalry, the competition was aimed at sustaining peace in the society.

    He praised all teams that participated for being disciplined, while appreciating all those that came out in spite of the rains to witness the final.

    He announced that talented players discovered would be drafted into Garnet Football Academy which was floated by him, to stand a chance of being discovered for a professional career by local or international scouts in the nearest  future.
