The National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has strongly condemned the unfortunate incident that led to the attack on Journalists and destruction of their working tools during a press conference on Sunday.
The institute made this condemnation through its Vice President and former Special Assistant on Media to the former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, Muktar Sirajo during his solidarity visit to the Kaduna NUJ Secretariat on Monday, where he said NIPR and NUJ is partner in progress.
“I am here to commiserate with NUJ and its members. The incident is very unfortunate and there is the need for all of us to rise and condemn such attacks on Journalists. The unwanted incident ought to be condemned, he emphasized.
While addressing NUJ members, he says: “as a member of the society with different opinion, we can always disagree to agree on so many issues of interest and also to agree to disagree.
“The test of a man is the level of his ability to respect other people’s opinion and share from there feeling. We must respect others opinion. Anybody who feels is opinion must be respected must also respect other people’s opinion,” he said
The Chairman of National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Adamu Yusuf appreciated the concern and the visit of the NIPR boss over the unfortunate incident.
Comrade Adamu said he has never seen such an incident before, but he saluted the courage of his members to withstand the pressure and stood still even though there were tear gas and gunshots, but that did not shake them, they stood to protect one another.
