KADFEST To Prepare Kaduna For Hosting, Winning 2017 NAFEST – Commissioner

Kaduna State Festival of Arts and Culture (KADFEST) will be used in preparing the state towards not just hosting of the 2017 edition of the National Sports Festival, but to also excel in the comoetitive aspects of the festival.
The state’s Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Daniel Danauta made this known during a press briefing on Friday, ahead of the KADFEST billed to commence on August 22 in Kaduna.
“It may also interest you to know that His Excellency, the performing and leading Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa’I, has graciously accepted to host the 2017 edition of the annual National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST)  in the same venue we are holding KADFEST.
“Indeed, KADFEST is being organized in such a way as to ensure that Kaduna State will not only host NAFEST 2017 successfully, but to win all the competitive events. I assure that you will be properly briefed as soon as we conclude our arrangements in this respect,” he said.
He explained that the ministry has concluded arrangements to stage the annual festival as part of the efforts by the State Government to exploit the hitherto untapped Arts and Culture potentials for sustainable economic growth and development of our dear state.
“The event billed for next week no doubt will epitomize the resolute commitment and determination of this administration to sustain the Arts and Culture industry because of the value it has on generations.
“The State Government recognizes that arts and Culture is a veritable tool to mirror the identity of the people, that is why it saddled the Ministry with the responsibility of maintaining the celebration of the annual festival for arts and culture as an avenue and potent vehicle for keeping alive our rich cultural heritage and values.
” The ministry in this year’s edition however, being aware of the near extinction of cultures due to continuous hype on foreign cultural ideologies and the misconceived perception of globalization among the youth, fashioned this year’s festival towards educating the younger generation as aptly captured by the theme “Our Folklore: Harnessing Today as Tomorrow’s Heritage.”
Danauta explained that as part of the policy of the government under the pragmatic leadership of Malam Nasir Ahmed el–Rufa’i , he has approved the establishment of two parastatals to champion the development of Arts and Culture, which are the Arts and Crafts Council and upgrading of the Bazobe Cultural Troupe to Kaduna State Cultural Troupe and very soon the enabling Laws will be passed by the State Assembly.
“In the meantime, the ministry has already worked out the organizational structure for their smooth take off.
“Focusing on the topic of this briefing, the festival is also an avenue to select entries for the State to participate effectively in the annual National Festival for Arts and Culture conducted by the National Council for Arts and Culture, Abuja.
“This is done in order to preserve and promote the abundance of each State’s Cultural Industry and to showcase not only investable opportunities in them, but also, to explore the wealth of job opportunities inherent in the cultural sector, especially for our teeming youth.
He informed that major participants in KADFEST 2017 are the 23 Local Government Areas which are the main repositories of cultures of Kaduna State,
