Top 3 finishers of the Senator Mohammed Sani Saleh Peace and Unity Cup are to be presented with handsome reward as the opening ceremony was held on Saturday in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
The opening match between Rigasa South versus Nasarawa, Trikania and Kudenda ended up 0-0 as both teams have set their sights on winning the brand new car, which is the first prize.
In a keenly contested game, watched by several dignitaries, Head Marketing Bet9ja, FUNMI Meshioye said he was impressed by the level of talents displayed.
He said that he was optimistic that at the end of the competition, several talents that would feed bigger league teams as well as the country’s national teams would have been discovered.
“I am impressed with what we are seeing here. We are excited that there are talents in Kaduna.
” At the end, we are hoping to have scouted young individuals that will be primed by good managers to become consummate football players,” he said.
On why Bet9ja is partnering the organisers, Meshioye explained that it was part of their corporate social responsibility to develop the game at the grassroots and to further build passion for the sport in the country.
“Our core benefit is to see football grow and to keep the passion alive in the country. It can’t be support for foreign clubs all the time, we want a paradigm shift that will benefit our economy and Nigerians,” he stressed.
At the end of the competition, the second position winners will get one million Naira, while the third placed team will receive N500,000.
Meanwhile, all the participating 20 teams have received branded jerseys courtesy of Bet9ja.
Senator Saleh who is a retired General of the Nigerian Army represented Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015.
