A trigger happy policeman on Sunday September 17, shot dead a 32-yr
old man simply identified as Elvis Ovie Mike and injured one Onome
Eko popularly known as Chairman at a child’s dedication reception
which held at No. 15 Ejewor Street by Polokor Market area in Okumagba
Layout, Warri Delta State.
AUTHENTIC News Daily gathered that the incident forced the Disc Jokey (DJ) Mike of the event to pack up and close shop or the day.

The deceased was shot close to his heart while Onome Eko was shot in
his left hand by the policeman who shot sporadically into the air
while the celebrant was being sprayed with Naira notes by some boys
who were said to be from Ghana a.k.a, Ghana Burgers.
The deceased was immediately rushed to First Rank Hospital within the
area, where the Divisional Police Officer,”B” Division in Warri, CSP
Anieteh Eyoh and other Senior Officers dashed to see him before he was
transferred to Syracuse Hospital where he gave up the ghost three
hours after losing too much blood.
The injured victim is currently receiving treatments at the Capital Hill Clinic/Hospital Airport road Branch in Warri.
Onome Eko’s girl friend who refused to disclose her name told AUTHENTIC News Daily Warri, Delta State Correspondent that he cannot speak with her boyfriend on Monday September 18 at the hospital.
The Chief Celebrant was absent from home at the time newsmen visited the venue of the reception at Polokor market area.
However, a close source who craved anonymity stated that he (celebrant) has been arrested by the “B” Division in Warri.
There were stains of blood at the scene of the incident which forced
occupants of the compound to abandon their homes.
Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP
Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the report noting that the policeman is
under investigation and he is being tried for professional misconduct.
“The Policeman in question is undergoing investigation. We do not
condone such nonsense. He is being tried for professional misconduct
and if found guilty, he will face the law,” he assured.
