The Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday declared that “No King” (Orosuen) has been selected, appointed, installed and crowned as King of the Kingdom.
AUTHENTIC News Daily gathered that this is contrary to a report in the Urhobo Voice Midweek Edition of September 2017 wherein one Chief Christopher Okumagba was presented and introduced as the King elect (Orosuen elect ) of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom purportedly by one Chief .D.B.O Opogen in a letter allegedly titled” Warri: Okumagba emerges Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom.”
Spokesman(Otota) of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Chief Wilson Eboh made the assertion on behalf of the Traditional Kingmakers Council, Traditional Council of Chiefs, Elders and entire people of the Kingdom at a Press Conference which held at the Palace of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri.

“On behalf of the Traditional Kingmakers Council,the Traditional
Council of Chiefs,Elders and entire people of Okere-Urhobo
Kingdom,Warri,I wish to make it abundantly clear that nobody has been selected,appointed, installed and crowned as an Orosuen(King) of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom,Warri.”
Eboh stated that Chief. D.B.O. Opogen who is not a member of the
kingmakers council has no right to select and appoint Chief
Christopher Okumagba or any other person whatsoever as King Elect of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom.
Eboh said the selection, appointment, installation and crowning of
Chief Christopher Okumagba as King elect of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom was reported as “Illegal” “False” “fictitious” and lacking in basis.
Eboh stated that the Traditional Council will meet and take a decision on Chief.D.B.O. Opogen and Chief Christopher Okumagba.
Eboh who is the Regent and Chairman of Okere-Urhobo Traditional
Kingmakers Council noted that it is the duty of the Kingmakers of
Okere-Urhobo Kingdom to headed by himself to select, appoint, install and crown a new King(Orosuen) stressing that,” No other person can do that.”
Eboh pointed out that the process of selecting a new King(Orosuen) has since commenced adding that the programme of activities ahs been announced publicly to the entire kingdom by the kingmakers.
Eboh also reassured indigenes and residents of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom that the Kingmakers will formally announce selection, appointment, installation and crowning of a new King for the Kingdom in line Okere-Urhobo Kingdom Traditional Chieftaincy Declafration which has been affirmed by the Courts in Suit NOs, W/525/2014 and W/197/2012.
