Soccer lovers defied the heavy downpour on Thursday evening to watch the match between Team Jaji comprising of Jaji, Rigachikun and Maraban Jos and Team Badiko, comprising Badiko, Kurmin Mashi and Ungwan Sanusi communities in the ongoing Senator Sani Saleh Peace and Unity Cup Talent Hunt Soccer Competition on Thursday evening.
The explosive match saw Team Jaji come from two goals down to level scores in the dying minutes.
At the end of first half, Badiko were leading 2-1 and consolidated on that as they increased the tally to 3-1 as the second half resumed.
To the disappointment of the Badiko fans who were more in number at the Kawo Primary School Football Field venue of the match, their goalkeeper conceded two successive goals to end the match 3-3.
The disappointed fans took on their goalkeeper at the end of the match, accusing him of selling the game. He was almost lynched by the angry fans, but for prompt intervention of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) that whisked him away to safety.
One of the top dignitaries sited at the VIP stand, Colonel A.D. Gora (rtd) while fielding questions from newsmen, said he was impressed by the level of talent displayed.
He said that with the skills exhibited, he would henceforth, on his own visit other venues of the matches while the competition lasts.
Col. Gora praised the organisers for good coordination, while asserting that the competition would in no little way contribute to creating bonds among youth of various communities in Kaduna metropolis, while consolidating on government’s peace initiatives.
Several dignitaries were sighted at the thrilling match, top amongst whom were sponsor, Senator Sani Saleh, former Commissioner of Youth and Sports Kaduna State, Honourable Shehu Adamu, renowned football administrator, Honourable Sabo Babayaro, and GRASOF President, Honourable Danlami Babami.
At the end of the competition, top three teams will go home with mouth watering prizes, with first position, getting a brand new space bus.
