Former Transition Committee Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Raymond Edijala has urged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful to disregard a purported zoning of the local government chairmanship slot to some members of its leaders and elders.
Edijala who was reacting to a kangaroo meeting which held at the
residence of Chief.G.N.O.Sefia on the 17th of September, condemned the purported zoning of the chairmanship slot to Udu South by leaders and elders.
“I am bold to say that this zoning which was hurriedly done is foreign, undemocratic, ill timed and should be disregarded by all Udu PDP party faithful, Delta Government and Udu Kingdom in general,” he said.
Edijala stated that zoning is new in Udu’s political dictionary
streasing that same was done in bad faith.
He claimed that the organisers of the kangaroo meeting have
perfected plans to exclude chairmanship aspirants from Udu North to enable their predetermined candidate emerge as the next Udu Council Chairman through the back door.
Edijala maintained that the Udu PDP belongs to all, saying that the Udu PDP Chairman Sam Ughwujowhovwo cannot be listening to some few cabals who do not mean well for Udu people.
While calling on the Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Delta State PDP Chairman, Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso and the Delta Central PDP Chairman, Dr. A.P. Fovie to savage the current political quagmire in Udu, Edijala urged all the chairmanship aspirants both from Udu South and North to test their popularity through primary election.
Edijala warned that any attempt for some cabals in Udu PDP to foist
their candidate on Udu people through zoning will not work pointing out that the Ovie of Udu Kingdom Owhoru 1 and the President General Of Udu,High Chief Steve Sokoh and PDP’s stakeholders in Udu are not aware of it.
Edijala described the zoning idea as counter-productive saying the Udu PDP Chairman Sam Ughwujowhovwo received chairmanship aspirants from Udu South and North during their declarations only for him to wake overnight to say that zoning is the order of the day.
