NMA Hails BUK For Winning Northwest Quiz Competition

    The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA)  has commended Bayero University Kano for winning it’s maiden edition of National Quiz Competition.

    Coordinator of the Northwest competition, Dr Saheed Nasir gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen  on Sunday in Kaduna.

    Nasir expressed satisfaction with the participants performance adding that the participants showed hard work and determination to win the competition .

    The competition held on Saturday at the National Ear Care Centre in Kaduna, saw Bayero University Kano emerge winners.

    The results according to participating states are Kano 79 points,  Sokoto 59 points, Gombe 58, Maiduguri and Kaduna coming last with 57 points.

    He said the medical students really showed spirit of sportsmanship  especially the winners.

    “I am highly impressed by their performance especially the winners who will be representing the North in the finals.

    He expressed optimism that they will come out successful during the finals in Gombe.

    Also speaking the NMA Chairman Kaduna State Chapter, Abdulraman Shehu also expressed gratitude to the medical students for participating in the quiz.

    He said the competition is a formed of interaction because NMA has vision of taking younger ones along.

    The NMA Quiz is a multiple choice, structured and is in four tiers.

    The tiers are Anatomy/Physiology/Biochemistry; Pharmacology/Pathology; Obstetrics/Gynaecology/Paediatrics/Nutrition/Medicine/Surgery as well as General Knowledge/Politics/Leadership/Ethics.

    The final of the national quiz competition is scheduled to take place between November 9 and 11, this year, at the Gombe State University Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
