Burutu Legislative Arm Impeaches EK Clark, Notifies  Delta Assembly

    The Burutu Local Government Legislative Arm has impeached the Chairman the LGA, Mr. Ebikeme Clark after passing a Vote of No Confidence on him.

    AUTHENTIC News Daily reports that the impeachment is coming barely one month to the expiration of the tenure of the embattled chairman.

    The Burutu Legislative Arm on Tuesday October 3 sacked Mr. Ebikeme Clark, son of Elder Statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark over alleged misconduct as well as  mismanagement of council’s funds including non adherence to due process in his dealings.

    The “Vote of No Confidence” motion and notice of impeachment was moved by the Councillor representing Okpokunou Ward 7 in the Burutu Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon Churchill Botu and was seconded by Hon. Richard Asiyae.

    The motion was unanimously adopted at plenary presided over by the Leader of the Legislative Arm  Hon. Felix Kemepade.

    The notice of impeachment was signed by fifteen councillors present out of the twenty-member legislative Arm on allegations of the Chairman’s abuse of office, mismanagement of council funds and non adherence to due process.

     

    The Legislative Arm subsequently forwarded notice of impeachment to the Delta State House of Assembly for ratification.

    The motion titled, “a motion of vote of no confidence and impeachment on the Council Chairman Hon. Ebikeme Clark was” duly signed by over two third majority of the councillors.

    The motion further read: “The House has observed the abuse of office by the Council Chairman Honourable Ebikeme Clark, also is the misconduct and mismanagement of council funds including non adherence of due process in his dealings”.

    One of the Councillors, Hon. Churchill Botu in his submission moved; “it is in this regard I move that a vote of no confidence be passed on the Chairman and be impeached from office, I beg to move”.

    Also as part of the motion, the House resolved to freeze the Burutu
    Local Government Council account domiciled with Zenith Bank PLC at Ogunu road in Warri to stop further mismanagement of council funds.

    “Furthermore the House has resolved to freeze the Burutu Local
    Government Council account domiciled at Zenith Bank of Nigeria PLC situated at Ogunu road from further mismanagement of funds as the Chairman has blatantly refused to give account of his stewardship to the Legislative Arm”.

    According to the House, the impeached Council Chairman Hon. Ebikeme Clark has blatantly refused to give account of his stewardship to the legislative arm.
