Principal Whose Students Drowned In River Puts Blame On Kaduna Water Board Manager


    The Principal of Victory School, Ungwar Yelwa, Kaduna, whose students drowned in River Kaduna on Wednesday, has blamed the tragic incident on the Assistant Manager of the Kaduna State Water Board.

    He expressed this while addressing parents whose children were victims at his office within the school premises on Thursday.

    The principal explained that the science teacher demanded from school management to take over 60 science students for excursion to water board, Kaduna, adding on getting there, the assistant water board manager took them to river to see the source of river that flows to tank for purification.

    According to him, five among the first set of students including the teacher fell into the river when the bridge collapsed, saying that some of them including the teacher were rescued but five were not seen until now, adding that they were four boys and one girl and that the management of the school will soon issue press statement.

    The angry  parents of the five students of the school located at No. 74 Makaranta Street, who were drowned expressed shock over the incident that claimed the lives of their children.

    The parents’ who met at the school with the principal in his office  queried what would have made the management to take their children on excursion to River Kaduna without informing them.

    The name of the students who lost their lives during excursion on Wednesday are Benedict Joseph, Ukaegbu David, Umanyi Monday, Romanus Priscilla and Arogundade Goodness who were all Senior Secondary II students.
