Warri based lawyer, Chief Thompson Okpoko SAN on Thursday October 12 expressed happiness with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government for exposing Corruption in the country.

Okpoko in a remark when members of the Nigeria Union of
Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel paid him courtesy visit.
He said,”Am happy if all that the man has done is to expose
corruption. I don’t know if you are happy too.”
Okpoko noted that serving and retired military brass buried money in the pit.
The legal practitioner pointed that the commanders send junior
officers to war fronts and collect their monies.
The legal practitioner stated that courageous journalists who can report without fear for the country to be successful are needed, just as he urged the journalists to do more of investigative journalism.
According to Okpoko,”Investigative journalism is what the country
needs at the moment. Government may not support you but do it for the passion of your profession. Let us try to help build our country. It doesn’t matter which political party is in power.”
Okpoko also accepted to be “Patron” of the NUJ Warri” with a promise to give his best.
Earlier,the NUJ Warri Chairman, Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire stated that the Union chose the legal practitioner amongst others to guide its members in the path of peace and development.
