The rich cultural heritage of the Zazzau Emirate came on display at the opening ceremony of the 30th National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) at the Murtala Mohammad Square, Kaduna on Tuesday.
Colourful Durbar displays were displayed, as the various traditional title holders led their team of horsemen on procession to pay homage to the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Idris, who was seated alongside other top dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Architect Barnabas Bala Bantex.
The Durbar was led by the Wazirin Zazzau and rounded up by the Dangaladiman Zazzau.
Before the Zazzau display, the 23 local government areas of Kaduna had filed out in procession.
First state to have a procession after Zazzau, was Niger State, after which the contingent from FCT took to the floor for their procession.
Other top dignitaries spotted at the opening ceremony which was still ongoing as at the time of filing this report, was the Director General, National Council of Arts and Culture, Olusegun Runsewe and the Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Daniel Danauta.
