Following the recent threat by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to resume
destruction of oil facilities belonging to the Federal Government and multinational oil companies, the Nigerian Navy on Monday November 7
said that it will in collaboration with other sister security agencies
fight against pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering and sea-piracy
as well as protect the international territorial waterways.
AUTHENTIC News Daily gathered this from Nigeria’s Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral, Ibok-Ete Ibas, who made the vow at the Naval Engineering College in Sapele during Annual Inspection to Delta Area.

Vice Admiral Ibas noted that the Nigerian Navy has planted its men in
strategic locations to ensure that the waterways is safe for International Oil Companies (IOC’s).
While noting that it is the responsibility of the Nigerian Navy to protect lives and properties in the waterways, Vice Admiral Ibas said it has also deployed strategies to curtail vandals and other criminal elements in the waterways.
Vice Admiral Ibas who was flanked by top echelons of the Navy said, “Nigerian Navy has generated measures to curb sea pirates. For sea
farers who use the sea, Navy is ready to protect seafarers who are on
legitimate businesses.”
