Popular Broadcaster with the Delta Rainbow Television (DRTV) in Warri,
Mr. Godspower Omadebor on Wednesday November 15 stated that he has
concluded plans to resign from the services of the Delta State owned
Television to enable him become a social critic and analyst and
criticize very well as an outsider.
Omadebor disclosed this at a Press Conference marking his birthday
bash/ 15years as a broadcaster in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government
Area, Delta State.
Omadebor who fondly referred to as the “Weapon of Mass Construction”
said DRTV does not have microphones and video cameras inspite of the
nine billion naira pumped into the state owned media by former
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration.
Omadebor clamed that the incumbent administration said it want to
reposition government owned media whereas the nine billion naira
pumped into the system has not been accounted for.
While noting that he is not castigating the government or anyone,
Omadebor stated that the system is not working.
“Am disillusioned and disappointed at the State owned media. I have
concluded arrangements to voluntarily retire because am tired.”
“My conscience is pricking me. I am retiring so that as an outsider, I
can criticize very well.”
“I cannot continue to work unproductively. We have to speak up and not
pretend over it.”
Omadebor said the job of a social critic is risky especially with
politicians who bear arms to frustrate their efforts but vowed to lay
his life as a “Sacrificial lamb” for the entertainment industry in
Delta State.
Omadebor posited that deltans have lost the oil and the entertainment
industry in Warri.
Omadebor further stated that the entertainment under the supervision
of incumbent Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has patronized people from
Lagos to the detriment of entertainers in Delta State particularly in
Warri.
